Tareekh e Bagdad Urdu is a book written by Abbas Kazemzadeh and narrated by Amir Bedil. It tells the story of Baghdad during the time of Uthman and Ali. An unknown assassin kills Uthman and his two sons, Talal and Umara, then Umara's wife Maryam, during a parade to mark the birthday of Ali (Mash-had), after which he narrowly escapes. The tragedy prompts Ali to make sweeping changes in order not to be killed like his father was. This is one of those books that allow you to see how history can change significantly through different points-of-view. Abbas Kazemzadeh does a great job telling this story that is impossible to know without reading it yourself. You are able to see what each person thinks, feels, and believes. Azerbaijani Muslim Abbas Kazemzadeh was blessed with an adequate education in both Azerbaijan and Iran. He spent most of his adult life as a professor at the University of Tehran before being forced into exile after the 1979 revolution. His work "Tareekh e Bagdad" has become a classic among Azerbaijani readers which he translated into Azerbaijan's official language - Azeri. According to Abbas Kazemzadeh, the incident involving Uthman and his three sons occurred during the third year of Ali's caliphate. The specific date of the incident is not mentioned in this book, but according to Abbas, it happened in 661 C.E. (4th year of Uthman's caliphate). The main strength of the book is the fact that Abbas meticulously describes each and every aspect of Uthman and his sons. It gives a factual description of what happened and how he felt about it. The different events and people in this book include:The story describes how Ali was very disturbed by the event that had taken place on his birthday. This resulted in him changing his rule as a caliph which changed several other things as well. He outlawed all forms of violence, he banned fighting tournaments, he made it compulsory for all schools to teach everybody reading and writing as well as arithmetic, and made it compulsory for all men to be literate. He also made it compulsory for all cultivated land to be farmed. Umar ibn al-Khattab was appointed as the new governor of Iraq. He appointed new troops, which included some of his old companions, who were extremely loyal to him. This book is helpful in understanding the history of Poland in the distant past. Abbas Kazemzadeh tells us about how Poland came into being, how it was formed and who fought against whom. Moreover he talks about Jagiellonian Dynasty's king Andrew II, his son Casimir III and Casimir IV Jagiellon that became famous thanks to his diplomatic skills. cfa1e77820
